Bing now shows which villa pages AI answers cite
Since February, Bing Webmaster Tools reports how often Copilot and Bing’s AI summaries cite your pages, with a sample of the queries behind them. How a Bali villa can use it.
Most of what an AI assistant says about a Bali villa happens out of sight: no click, no visit, nothing in analytics. Since February 2026, one platform reports part of it. Bing Webmaster Tools has an AI Performance report, in public preview, that counts how often Microsoft’s AI answers cite your pages.
What the report shows
Bing announced the report on 10 February 2026. It covers Microsoft Copilot, AI-generated summaries in Bing and some partner integrations, and shows:
- total citations: how many times your content was shown as a source in AI answers
- average cited pages: the daily average of distinct pages from your site that were cited
- grounding queries: a sample of the phrases the AI used to retrieve your content
- page-level citations: how often each page was cited, and how that changes over time
It doesn’t report clicks.
Setting it up
If your villa’s website is already verified in Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools can import it, which verifies the site in Bing without another step. Data for a newly added site takes some time to appear.
Reading it for a villa
Start with the grounding queries. They show which phrases led Microsoft’s AI to your pages: a private pool, the walk to the beach, airport transfers. If the phrases match what you sell, your pages are answering the right questions.
Check the most-cited pages first. If Copilot cites your rates page, make sure the rates on it are current. An answer that quotes last season’s price costs you either the booking or the guest’s trust.
Look at the pages that never get cited. A villa page that doesn’t state its location, distances, check-in times or house rules gives an answer nothing to quote. A booking page an assistant can read covers what to add.
Compare it with bookings. Your analytics show visits referred by Copilot and Bing. Set the citation trend against direct bookings, month by month.
What it doesn’t cover
The report counts Microsoft’s AI surfaces only. ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overviews and Perplexity don’t appear in it, and the grounding queries are a sample rather than the full list. Treat it as one view of your villa’s AI visibility, alongside your own checks of the other assistants.
